Lent.

Did you know that Lent starts tomorrow? Just like with Advent, I didn't start really observing Lent until a few years ago. And honestly? I'm not always the most consistent with it. I'm just not. But I do really try, and this year is no exception. I plan on joining the SheReadsTruth Lent study, but I know lots of ladies who are doing this one, too. I really don't think it matters what you do, as long as you do something- you know?

Besides just following a study guide, over the last few years I've also worked on taking something on instead of giving something up. I am forever in need of more spiritual discipline in my life, and I just really think Lent is a great time to practice that! This year I'm taking up prayer. Ok, before you think I'm a heathen who never prays, let me elaborate. I always have a lot of people in my life I can pray for, but even more so right now. This baby in my belly. My husband who is getting ready to be a dad. An aging grandma. Friends faced with cross-country moves and waiting on God. I do already pray for all of those people, but for the next 40 days I want to work on carving out more intentional time to pray for a person each day. It seems kind of lofty to me right now, but I think it would be such a good habit to get into. I see lots of early morning feedings and diaper changes in my future that would be a good place to keep this discipline going!

So what about you? What are you doing for Lent this year? Giving up chocolate and swearing or taking on a bit more time with Jesus? Do share!
