Lent.

1 Have mercy on me, O God,
      because of your unfailing love.
   Because of your great compassion,
      blot out the stain of my sins.
 2 Wash me clean from my guilt.
      Purify me from my sin.

Psalm 51:1-2

Christianity tells people to repent and promises them forgive- ness. It therefore has nothing (as far as i know) to say to people who do not know they have done anything to repent of and who do not feel that they need any forgiveness. It is after you have realized that there is a real Moral Law, and a Power behind the Law, and that you have broken that law and put yourself wrong with that Power—it is after all this, and not a moment sooner, that Christianity begins to talk.

Today's is Ash Wednesday, and the first day of Lent. I've never really focused much on the Lenten season, but this year something's been stirred within me to take these 40 days to reflect on my relationship with Jesus.
I have things to repent {we all do!} and I could use some sweet, sweet time with my Jesus talking about the things in my heart that aren't glorifying to Him and working out some special ways to begin putting some disciplines into practice to daily love Him better, you know?

What about you? Any plans to focus in on Lent this year?

{Check out the neat idea my bff Lauren and her hubs are doing!}

I love this post, Katie. We've said it a thousand times, but I so wished we lived closer to talk about things like this! :) I too am doing lent this year. I think it can be a really special time in your walk with Christ.

Well-done! I too feel that I have been called to focus on Lent, but I did not know exactly what to do until I read your post. Now I know that I need to focus on my relationship with Christ! I think that instead of giving up something like soda or sugar, it's so important to focus on faith and improvement of self.

Love this, and your desire to have a closer relationship with God. This reflection on Him is the true reason for this season :-)
You go girl!
