Caleb. {five months}

  Five months! And so much growing lately! This was a busy month for Caleb- eating solids and starting to sit up and reach for faces. Our pediatrician gave us the go ahead to start solids at four months {every baby and doctor and parent is different, but this is what worked for us!}. He started with rice cereal and oatmeal and then avocados, carrots, peas, green beans, bananas, and sweet potatoes. For the first few weeks it was sort of hit or miss as to whether he was interested. But the last few weeks we've noticed a huge change. He loves eating! He eats in the morning and afternoon and usually finishes his entire bowl. He also tries to hold the spoon on his own and makes a massive mess. And we love it. He's starting to sit up, but it doesn't last very long. He's getting less and less wobbly every day, though. He also is fascinated with faces these days and its adorable. He loves to lay on his changing table and babble and wiggle while we change his diaper. While he's nailing his two day time naps, evenings are still hit or miss. But if he fights his evening catnap, we always default to bath time and he loves that! His baby bff Ezra came to visit this month, and it was crazy to see the developmental difference between them {Ezra is 2.5 months younger than Caleb}. Caleb loves to stand and wiggle and watch people and interact- but still no giggles. He is a pretty serious baby, so content to just observe.
  The other day I was thinking of all the things I want to remember about this stage. How he has to be swaddled for naps and bedtime but always gets his left arm out immediately and sucks his thumb. How he looks up at me when he eats with the sweetest little expression. How he loves Sophie the Giraffe right now and has a favorite foot to gnaw on {the back right one, in case you're curious.} How he lets out the sweetest smiles and squeals when I get him from his crib. How he reaches for Murphy and Jersey every time they walk by. How he gets the funniest strained face when working out a poo {I can't help but laugh every time}. How fascinated he is when his cousin Mia comes to visit.

  New this month:: starting solids, sitting up, reaching for faces, bringing more toys to his mouth, sucking thumb at night/for naps, fitting into more 6mo clothes, first wedding and visit from his baby bff.
