Tie or Tutu {gender reveal party}.

{garland and gold heart toppers c/o Golden Hour Revelry}

   Since our anatomy ultrasound was on Valentine's Day, we knew we wanted to use it as an excuse to get our family together to celebrate the holiday and tell them in person if baby Rush is a he or she. I'm a sucker for any reason to party. We also knew we wanted to incorporate our dogs, because they're basically our kids, too. And what is cuter than a Weimaraner in a tutu and a Husky in a tie??
   Before I go any further, I should admit to some pregnancy dramatics I had last week. We originally just wanted to invite family over, and then decided to invite friends that are like family, too. But, that got overwhelming for me really fast. The party just got really big and I was already feeling a bit nervous about the ultrasound {we don't have the best track record, even outside the miscarriage. Maybe another blog post?}. So, we back-pedalled and literally uninvited our friends. How terrible of me, right? I know. I judge me, too. But, we have the sweetest friends who almost all understood. There's a reason we consider them like family and I'm so thankful for their grace in light of my pregnancy-overwhelmings.
   So, we had my family over {since they are all local} and FaceTimed with Justin's family {since they are all far away}. We had brunch-y things like crepes, goat cheese eggs, bacon, donut holes, and mimosas. My amazing SIL had also sent me a Darby Smart box last month with a fun kit for Valentine's cupcakes, so I took advantage of this excuse to make them! We also sent everyone home with a little bag of delicious {knock-off} Monster mix. Basically, there was something for everyone.
   We had everyone vote on our kitchen chalkboard. Even my toddler niece and nephew got in on the voting! {Naturally, each rooting for a partner in crime...} To actually announce the gender, we had Justin take both dogs upstairs {Murphy in his tie and Jersey in her tutu} and send down the coordinating one. It wasn't the best for photo opps, but adorable because, well I think my dogs are the cutest.

   I love, love these pictures my sister got of us. I mean, how cute are the pups??? You can't really see Jersey's tutu, but trust me. It was adorable. It kept riding up because she's wild, so that made it even cuter.
   And to be honest? We're extra excited it's going to be a boy! We were both secretly hoping for one and Justin is already having so much fun thinking of all the things he's going to do with his little boy. And feeling relieved for not having to pay for a wedding. It suddenly feels much more real now and like we're actually having a baby. A baby boy!
  Also, let's just go ahead and call this Baby Week on the blog. Feel free to roll your eyes and skip over all of these posts...I would have done the same thing a few years ago! But we're just starting to registry and nursery plan, and I would honestly love any and all input you have for me. Be on a lookout for a nursery must-have's post tomorrow! {And come ready to share your tips!}

If I lived closer and you had uninvited me, I would have been creeping outside your window all morning to see the big reveal because I was so excited. Also because the food looks amazing.
