A new season.
Yesterday was a really, really good day. I got the news I had hoped I'd get.
But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me back up.
If you've been reading my blog long, or know me in real life...you know its been one long summer.
All those crazy emotions I had been feeling eventually got me thinking about my career.
I love being a social worker. To me, there's just nothing better than meeting people where they're at and helping them overcome challenges and feel supported.
But the job I got after graduation in May is, in a word, draining.
I spent a lot of time privately praying and reevaluating my desires and limits.
And, with the risk of seeming flighty or like I was failing...
I started looking for another job.
I didn't know when I started, though, the patience and trust that would be involved. Lots and lots of waiting.
Yesterday, I got the news my heart had been waiting for.
I've got a new {and much, much less draining!} job. I {nervously} gave my notice at my current job.
And I breathed a really big sigh of relief.
I really, truly feel now that my season of overwhelming grief and confusion and well, just no fun...is over.
I'm excited for this new season, both figuratively and literally.
New job...here I come!

Wonderful! Everyone deserves a job they love and won't be pushed too hard on - especially when you're already feeling drained. Good work woman - so happy for you Katie.

awwwww...I was a social worker before kids. :) Well, I kind of think you're always a social worker, whether you're earning a paycheck or not. :)
There is such an advocate that lives in my heart.
Can't wait to hear more about the new job...still SW?
Congratulations, Katie!! I don't think you are flighty at all. You knew it was time for a change and you made it. I hope this is a better fit for you:)
