A gas station.

I'm pretty sure I've talked about my alma mater on here before.
{even though I'm too lazy right now to link up to any of those posts...}
You may or may not have heard of Taylor University.
Its been in the news off and on over the past few years.

Something that's touted a lot {as in, borderline too much} on campus is the idea of community and doing life together.
And let me tell you, if there is ever a place to learn about and fall in love with real, genuine community...
it's Taylor University.

Its a small college located pretty much in the middle of nowhere.
But that small body of students makes a huge impact on the local community.
There's a gas station a couple blocks from campus...
and its famous {to TU students, at least} for late night hang outs, cheap and delicious breadsticks, and polar pops.
EVERYONE on campus goes on 'polar pop runs'.
Its basically a campus staple. I'm not exaggerating.

Well, that gas station is being closed. And when students heard about all of the beloved gas station workers {seriously, we know them by name!} losing their jobs...
they turned out to show their support.

This video makes me so thankful for community and being a part of something bigger than myself!

So sweet... I'm from a small town and I always love the support and "togetherness" small towns create!

P.S. it's almost September so I want to read more about your no spending journey!

P.S.S. (or is it P.P.S.?!) how is the running going?!

This is so sweet! My "small town" is growing quite a bit, but I love that I can still walk around downtown and see people I know!

We felt the same way about a gas station called "Pa's" in Wilmore, KY, where we went to seminary.

EVERYONE goes there for the best breakfast in town....Wilmore wouldn't be the same without Pa's.

I'm sorry to hear that this special gas station is closing and even more sorry that it's sweet employees are losing their jobs. :(
