Around the house: DIY cleaning wipes.

I love Lysol/Clorox disinfecting wipes.
Call me crazy, but I love them.
Too bad I happen to be a poor newlywed that can't afford them.
So instead, I make my own!
Its way cheaper and tons more fun anyway :)

Here's what I use

2/3 roll of paper towel, a container, and some Lysol cleaner.

tear off about 2/3 the roll of paper towels and stuff half of them into the container...

Measure out 1/4 cup of Lysol...

Dilute in 3/4 cups of water. (You can adjust measurements for varying size of containers, mine's on the small side!)
Slowly pour the diluted Lysol over the paper towels in the container. They will start to compact. Stuff the remaining towels into the container and pour any leftover Lysol in. Voila! Homemade cleaning wipes!

Anyone else have any $$saving household tips?

This is such a great idea! I always buy Clorox wipes because I love them so much, but I will definitely be trying this!! You're a genius!

I know you love your Gain (me too!) but have you ever looked into making your own laundry detergent? I have a friend who has a recipe you could try if you're interested. Also, I've started using a lot more "home remedies" for cleaning instead of the harsh abrasives/chemical commercial cleaners, like using diluted vinegar for cleaning/disinfecting and baking soda for cleaning my sink&tub. You can also use Borax for a lot of things.

I make my own laundry detergent. Saves tons of money and cleans wonderfully.

@ Grace & Bethany- I've made my own fabric softener before...and loved it! But J draws the line there, he's somewhat obsessed with laundry and {unfortunately} loves all the scents and dyes in regular detergent!

Katie - how do you make your own fabric softener? I'd like to try that.

@Bethany- dilute 1 parts conditioner (yep, the stuff you use on your hair!) with 3 parts water...you can pour directly into rinse cycle or try what I did: make a fabric square and soak in mixture. Throw into dryer with clothes. Reuse!
